Faith Statement

Proximity Ministries upholds the 66-book canon of Holy Scripture as the inerrant and immutably authoritative Word of God, which is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness so that Jesus’ disciples may be complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Although Scripture (Old and New Testament) was recorded by forty fallible individuals over a period of nearly 1,600 years, they were each supernaturally inspired by the Holy Spirit/Author toward establishing a written Truth-standard for humanity. God Himself has preserved this record* of divinely breathed Scripture so that we would have no excuse to be overcome by our fallen sin-nature, having only to confess and experience a conviction of saving faith in the Person and atoning/saving work of Jesus Christ, founded in His love (Hebrews 1:1-12; 2:9-18; 10:1-25). Jesus is and shall eternally remain wholly God and wholly human, being the second Person of the triune Godhead, perfectly unified and equal in all authority with God the Father and Holy Spirit (John 17; Revelation 5).
Proximity Ministries also views both the local and universal church assemblies worldwide as diverse expressions of the one church Body of Christ, just as each individual soul within any local fellowship of believers is a uniquely gifted member of Christ’s Body (1 Corinthians 12-13). The church Body exists in the world specifically to glorify Jesus and encourage each other unto good works for the kingdom of God, exhibiting the divinely foundational facet of loving relationships – for God is love (Ephesians 5; 1 John 4:7-19).
What Does Missional Faith Look Like?
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together and all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all as anyone had need.
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
—Acts 2:42-47

Proximity Ministries agrees with the Statement of Faith published by the National Association of Evangelicals:
• We believe the Bible to be God’s inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word
• We believe that one God is eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
• We believe in the deity and humanity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church and His return in power and glory
• We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity
• We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian can live a godly life
• We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, those that are saved unto the resurrection of life and those that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation
• We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ

*Holy Scripture was originally written in Hebrew and Aramaic (OT) and Greek (NT). Since the early centuries of Christianity, the Holy Bible has been translated into thousands of languages and dialects, which – when done reverently under Holy Spirit direction – does not diminish but rather proliferates the Gospel. To this history attests.
